Unified World Communications has officially joined the inTEC GROUP, marking an exciting new chapter in their long-standing history in the telecoms industry. This partnership brings together two businesses that share a passion for innovation, customer service, and getting the job done right.

Four decades of service and growth

Founded in 1985 by Howard Jones in Blackburn, Unified World has grown into one of the UK’s longest-serving independent telecoms dealers. Back then, mobile coverage in the North of England was almost non-existent – limited to a stretch of the M6 from Preston heading south! Since then, Unified World has played a key role in helping businesses stay connected as the industry evolved.

Their first sale came in January 1986 to a local paper chemical company. Despite that business changing hands several times over the years, they’ve remained a loyal customer. When asked why, they said it was the enthusiasm shown in that very first meeting, along with the outstanding service and understanding that followed. That early feedback helped shape what would become the foundation of Unified World’s approach: a genuine commitment to customer service.

What they offer today

Over the years, Unified World has operated from offices in Manchester and Nottingham, but today they’re firmly rooted in Blackburn, focusing on their core services. These include business mobiles, IoT solutions, hosted telephony, M2M communications, and both business and mobile broadband.

Trusted by big names

Unified World’s clients range from global corporations to small businesses, and they pride themselves on offering the same level of care and attention to each one.

They’ve managed Vodafone’s largest corporate account for over 13 years, supporting more than 18,000 mobile broadband connections, 850 hosted seats, 400 mobile connections, and 350 Office 365 licenses. They also supply hardware imported from Europe to support this client’s growing needs.

Another long-standing relationship is with Joseph Holt Brewery, who have worked with Unified World for over 12 years. Together, they’ve rolled out mobile and hosted telephony across more than 120 sites.

Five years ago, Unified World partnered with Osborne Technologies to offer cutting-edge visitor management solutions. That relationship, led by their Business Development Manager, Verity Jones, has opened doors in both the corporate world and the education sector, including independent schools and academies.

Their education clients include Endeavour Academy Trust, Forward as One Academy Trust, and Horizon Academy Trust. On the corporate side, they work with well-known names such as the Savoy Hotel, Biffa Waste Management, PZ Cussons (makers of Imperial Leather), Castore, Matchroom Sport, and Cheshire Fire and Rescue.

A small team with big impact

Unified World runs a lean but highly experienced team of 10, with a combined 130 years in the telecoms industry. Their newest team member has already been with them for five years, which speaks volumes about the culture and stability within the business.

Looking ahead

Joining the inTEC GROUP is a natural next step for Unified World. Director Howard Jones shared that one of the main reasons for the move was inTEC’s strong reputation, excellent customer service, and determination to deliver – values that align perfectly with Unified World’s own.

The team in Blackburn is excited about what lies ahead and looks forward to working closely with new partners across the inTEC network.
