What is the inVIRONMENT initiative?
The inTEC Group have launched an inVIRONMENT initiative for 2023. This strategy will raise awareness and focus on corporate sustainability with an emphasis on ‘Recycle, Reduce, Rethink’. Each month, we will be highlighting events, stories, news and opinions around various environmental and sustainability themes.
Recycle
Recycling reduces waste sent to landfills, prevents pollution, conserves natural resources and energy whilst creating jobs and producing economic benefits.
Reduce
Reducing waste saves energy, prevents pollution by reducing the need for raw materials, lowers greenhouse gas emissions and helps sustain the environment for future generations.
Rethink
Rethink your daily habits – can you be more environmentally friendly? Do you waste too much? Are you thinking green?
Little changes make big differences.
What have we done so far this year?
Veganuary
We started off the initiative with Veganuary! The month was dedicated to encouraging people to try a plant-based vegan diet as a way of protecting the environment, preventing the suffering of animals and improving overall health.
Metal water bottles
This month we announced our new company mascot ‘Winnie the Water Bottle’ to encourage our staff to use our inTEC metal water bottles and steer from plastic waste.
We are always conscious of recycling technology and donating our old hardware.
Dedicate a tree
To celebrate International Day of Forests, we have planted 8 trees in Greater Manchester on behalf of each winner of our 2022 Annual Awards.
The donation has been made via the Manchester City of Trees charity which is part of the Community Forest Trust.
Office sustainability
We are celebrating Earth Week internally by raising awareness for sustainability in our offices!
We have provided each of our 8 offices with our Top 10 Environmental Tips to encourage a more sustainable workplace.
Business Green Scene
We are apart of the Business Green Scene, a business network for environmental sustainability through the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce. This network allows us to connect with like-minded people, attend events, provides NCFE accredited sustainability training and overall keeps us up to date with environmental news.
Why do we care?
- We are all affected by climate change - wherever you are in the world!
- Because we all deserve to breathe clean air.
- We do not want to undo the progress we have made!
- We want to help end poverty, build safer and stronger economies and make society a healthier place to live.
